"Outdoors we use skills that don't necessitate the latest software, and we're not worried about overtime, meetings, traffic, deadlines or structure.

The predictable mundane doesn't exist outside, and that's a good thing!

Outdoors, we connect with life and are reminded of what is important. We regain balance, connection, patience, adaptability, perseverance, movement, inner peace, playfulness, youth and reconnect mind and body.

It's the process of pushing our limits and playing like the wild child we once were where we honor our soul, and we become whole again.”

Metabolic Testing – V02 and RMR

Your metabolism really can be trained to function at a higher level!

Your ability to heal, move, think and function at your best is wholly contingent on how well your metabolism works. Understanding this – and how it applies to your body – is the key to unlocking your genetic potential.

Ultimate Potential uses revolutionary metabolic testing technology. It’s creating a transformation within the personal training and coaching industry by allowing professionals to make total body health and performance an exact science. We offer the most effective and accurate way to measure your current metabolism and energy output. That way, we can determine your unique capabilities and map out a plan that allows you to work with your body for the results you want.

Test results will allow us to create a unique training plan for you based on two separate metabolic assessments: Your Resting Metabolic Rate

(RMR) and your Volume of Oxygen assessment (V02).

You will discover how to increase the amount of fat you burn during workouts, and how to speed up your overall metabolism (which is the key to body fat loss). Also, you will learn how to improve your level of fitness and performance by increasing your anaerobic threshold (AT).

You’ll receive coaching and a 12-week training plan designed to get you results.

How Does RMR and V02 apply to me?

Testing your RMR will let you know EXACTLY how many calories you burn in a day and how well your body, at rest, utilizes fat as a fuel source. A low RMR test score will result in very different recommendations for nutrition and exercise than a high score will.

The V02 test shows you the heart rate at which you burn the most body fat, where you hit your AT, and how your body uses carbohydrate and fat as primary fuel sources. It tells us, as total body fitness experts, exactly where we need to pinpoint your training so you get maximum performance by increasing your overall fuel efficiency, body fat burning and metabolic rate.

We also include Blood Pressure Assessment and Body Fat Composition Measurement in your testing for better accuracy and overall planning.

We will make it so the time you spend training your body will yield the greatest results!

What is Metabolic Testing?

A Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) assessment measures the amount of energy your body uses when it’s at rest. That number can then be adjusted by an activity factor to determine the number of calories you burn in a typical day. Your RMR therefore identifies your caloric intake needs for a fat loss program.

A metabolic assessment analyzes the volume of oxygen your body consumes

(VO2) and the volume of carbon dioxide it produces (VCO2) in a controlled setting. This assessment determines your “metabolic profile,” which tells you which types of fuels (fats, carbohydrates, etc.) your body is using.

An exercise metabolic assessment, taken during exercise with a gradual increase in intensity, measures the VO2 and VCO2, along with your heart rate. During the test, you will reach a point sufficient to collect enough data to create your metabolic profile. Data including heart rate, oxygen consumed, and anaerobic threshold help us to create a training program tailored specifically to your needs. Your metabolic profile also scientifically determines your target heart rates, which we can then use to put together a highly effective fitness or fat loss training program.

Scientific metabolic assessments are better than estimates because the resulting programs are based on your unique responses to exercise. From the assessments, we'll get information about how your body is working, which leads to more effective nutritional planning and exercise programming.

How are these tests performed?

A testing professional administers each test with a Basic Assessment Kit. You keep the kit, so you can use it to re-test later. Fitness professionals recommend re-testing after a 3-6 month period of consistent training or after a dramatic change in cardiovascular fitness or weight gain or loss.

RMR - The RMR assessment takes place while you rest comfortably in a chair. It takes as few as 10 to 15 minutes and generally no more than 30 to 45 minutes. The measurements obtained establish your resting caloric needs - the precise number of calories your body needs to maintain its basic functions.

V02 - The VO2 assessment takes place during a simple workout on a treadmill. During the test you will exercise at a pace suitable to your current ability. This test generally takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your unique metabolism and fitness level.
